Designing interiors in white
White is frequently used in interior design as it fosters a clean, fresh, and calming ambiance. This is a flexible color that can be paired with a variety of other colors or used independently to craft minimalist interiors.
Decorating walls in white can make the space appear brighter and more open, while white furniture can lend an air of elegance and modernity. White curtains, bedding, or pillows can infuse the room with a sense of softness and purity. Nonetheless, it’s crucial to strike a balance between white and other colors and textures to prevent the interior from feeling sterile and cold. Blending white with warm wooden accents, gentle pastel shades, or bold colors can result in a more engaging and welcoming space. In this article, we will guide you on how to effectively incorporate white into your interior design.
The advantages and disadvantages of white
Incorporating white into interior design comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages.
The primary benefits of this color include:
- White imparts a sense of cleanliness and brightness, making the room appear larger and more expansive;
- It fosters a soothing and peaceful atmosphere, promoting relaxation and tranquility;
- It can be effortlessly paired with any other color scheme;
- It can serve as an excellent backdrop for showcasing artwork and decorative pieces.
However, when using white in interior design, one should also consider the potential drawbacks:
- White is unforgiving of stains and dirt, maintaining a clean and tidy white interior requires meticulous care and the right choice of finishing materials;
- A completely white interior may come across as cold and uninviting.
- White is a complex color with many shades, and it’s crucial in interior design to ensure these shades don’t clash.
In general, incorporating white into interior design can present a range of advantages and difficulties. With thorough planning and attention to detail, a serene and attractive space can be created. Using white porcelain stoneware for finishing in your project will undoubtedly address practicality concerns, as it’s arguably the most low-maintenance and practical material that’s easy to clean.
COMFORTABLE WHITE BATHROOM INTERIOR
The chilly shade of pure white marble can always be warmed by the addition of warm wood.
This is precisely the approach taken by designer Regina Ibragimova in her project, when she designed the bathroom interior of a house.
Large-format porcelain stoneware resembling marble, Platinum White 80×160 with a natural surface from the Charme Advance collection, was chosen for wall finishing. For the floor, wood-like tiles from the Wonderful Life range in a warm Honey 20×160 color were used, which have a surface similar to brushed wood.
The furniture facades, mirror frame, and window sills also incorporate a wood texture, resulting in an extremely cozy interior.
FUNCTIONAL AND PRACTICAL WHITE INTERIOR
A modern interior should be functional, practical, and remain relevant for a long time. The bathroom design from Tatiana Burkina’s project fully meets these criteria. The blend of wood, stone, and total-white tiles with an appealing texture will always appear fresh and fashionable. Dark wood against a white wall looks opulent, while sand-colored stone porcelain stoneware seamlessly brings this duo together. The white clay wall tiles from the 3D Experience range are very stylish, with the three-dimensional effect adding a unique touch.
To achieve such an interior, you will need:
- 3D Experience Polygon 40×80 wall tile is available in various textures within the collection;
- Metropolis Desert Beige 60×120 ceramic granite;
- Tatami Pepper 20×80 decor from the Loft range.
The furniture facades, mirror frame, and window sills also incorporate a wood texture, resulting in an extremely cozy interior.
WHITE INTERIOR WITH STRIKING DETAILS
The contrast technique was effectively applied in Yulia Pisareva’s project.
For a 5 sq. m. bathroom, the designer used white marble-like porcelain stoneware with subtle veins from the Charme Deluxe Bianco Michelangelo 60×120 collection with a patinated surface, and dark grey Metropolis Imperial Black 60×120 porcelain stoneware with dynamic white cross veins.
The green color softens the austere interior, making it extraordinarily cozy.
Interestingly, a patinated surface — smooth with a slight satin sheen — is perhaps the least demanding when it comes to cleaning; it’s easy to clean and wash.
In the new CONTINUUM collection, the snow-white Play milk decor with elements of gold leaf in a pleasant milky-white color is particularly noteworthy. Perfect for a minimal chic style interior design. A wall adorned with such decor will certainly captivate everyone; its crumpled glossy paper texture evokes genuine interest and admiration. This is one of the ways to design an accent wall in white! The gold leaf elements on the tiles will add a touch of luxury to the incredible off-white background.
