Stone effect in interior design: tips from designers

A stylish interior design is the aspiration of anyone embarking on the renovation of their own home or apartment. When looking for aesthetics and inspiration, we often explore various sources, studying different materials and textures to incorporate into our future homes.

In contemporary architecture, natural materials have made a comeback. Stone is a material that perfectly complements modern, classic, and minimalist interior styles. Stone-effect porcelain stoneware embodies three key unique qualities — beauty, practicality, and functionality, making it an essential material in interior design.

Dark stone is far from dull!

Monochromatic dark interiors may indeed appear cold, lifeless, or give off a sense of emptiness.

Dark stone in interior design is always interpreted differently: while some may prefer a rugged minimalist design, others may lean towards lighter shades. However, dark materials are often used to create unique wall finishes or accent niches, contributing to a refined ambiance.

Experts from Buro2d suggest that a practical choice would be to use dark stone-effect porcelain stoneware as a stylish accent, such as for a kitchen backsplash. The designers of this project used large-format porcelain stoneware from Skyfall Nero Smeraldo 60×120, featuring vibrant graphics of alpine stone and contrasting color transitions.

This distinctive backsplash blends seamlessly with wooden textured furniture and pristine white kitchen cabinets.

Vibrant emotions in interior design

Striking stone-effect porcelain stoneware can serve as an excellent foundation for a vibrant and unique interior. The next example of such an interior is guaranteed to evoke a whirlwind of emotions in everyone!

Trendy accents, diverse colors and textures, intriguing shapes, textiles, and exclusive details form the perfect basis for a daring bathroom design from Sofia Kalugina’s project.

The designer aspired to craft a unique space featuring contrasting colors and materials. And she accomplished it flawlessly!

“In the project’s concept, I wanted to blend a bit of everything. I believe that such interior decoration, particularly in the bathroom, instills energy for the entire day,” the designer shares with us.

In this project, the Stone Grey porcelain stoneware from the Continuum collection, in a large 80×160 format, played a crucial role: its texture authentically replicates the expressive graphics of Greek agglomerate, thereby perfectly enhancing the ultra-modern design.

The tile color harmonizes perfectly with the rich spectrum of shades in the interior, and the natural stone graphics on the porcelain stoneware surface render the interior fresh and contemporary. Such an interior will certainly leave a lasting impression on guests!

Terracotta ambiance

Often in interior design, only one accent color dominates as it doesn’t overwhelm the overall concept and imparts a festive mood to the space.

Even if your preference is a warm, soft shade, don’t hesitate: stone-like tiles will also be an excellent complement to, for example, a painted wall or vibrant furniture facades.

The designers from AN IN project studio crafted an apartment interior where terracotta is featured in every room, starting from the entrance hall. The gray stone-like porcelain stoneware Graphite Dark 80×80, with its practical natural surface from the Metropolis collection, coupled with the pleasant terracotta color on the hallway walls, creates a highly successful and stylish combination.

The dynamic light and delicate white veins on the tile surface lend elegance and luxury to the space. Beyond aesthetics, this collection features a natural surface type, ensuring that the hallway floor is safe and completely non-slip.

The project’s authors meticulously planned all design details and key operational nuances of the room in advance, and we are delighted to share the result of their excellent work.
