Project of the month: february 2024

We’re excited to announce the winners! Designers Nina Kovalenko and Irina Zhigan from The New Story studio won by a very tight margin. Their kitchen/living room project features Metropolis Arcadia Brown porcelain stoneware, and the tiles uniquely define the entire room’s style.
“This project started with a porcelain stoneware backsplash, whose shades inspired the entire home’s interior,” the authors explained.

We thank the gifted designers for their captivating projects and all of you for voting!

Interview with the winner

What inspires you? What styles do you enjoy?

My clients inspire me. Hence, my projects are a direct reflection of their mood, style, personality, and values. Usually, the building itself, its surroundings, and the architecture of the rooms — especially the windows and ceilings — dictate what the style will be like. I’m also always mindful of the budget and the project’s long-term investment appeal.

What does a modern, functional kitchen look like?

The first and foremost principle for me is to determine its importance to the clients and its impact on the overall design. It has the potential to become the focal point and the primary element shaping the entire interior. In this particular case, we started with the Metropolis Arcadia Brown porcelain stoneware backsplash, which set the tone for its surroundings and the rest of the project.

In modern kitchens, I aim to ensure there’s plenty of space for movement. I want the place to be functional and reliable, while complementing the overall style of the property.

When did you first learn about the Italon brand? As a professional, what product qualities do you prioritize?

My first experience with the brand was in 2019. Since then, I’ve used it multiple times in projects, including for the entire property.

As a designer, I value the value for money factor, the ease of purchase, and adherence to declared specifications. Equally crucial is the actual batch’s tone matching the display sample.

Every year I’m excited about the new collections. They truly meet market demands and trends. I also like the tones matching across decors.

Right now, I see Italon as the most widely covered and ubiquitous brand in this price range. Its well-established production capacity guarantees reliable delivery times and price consistency.
