Tile Layer’s Day in Novosibirsk
This October, a weeklong intensive program was held in Novosibirsk by Sergey Gapchenko with the support of Tsentr Remonta (a construction supply store). On October 16th, Tile Layer’s Day was celebrated as part of Sergei’s masterclass, with more than a hundred professionals attending the event to learn about the specifics of working with porcelain stoneware and ceramic tiles.
Tile Layer’s day began with a theoretical speech by Sergey Dyakonov, a key member of the italon team responsible for collaborating and communicating with key clients. He spoke about what porcelain stoneware is and what you need to pay attention to when working with it.
After his short presentation, tile layers learned about the different kinds of porcelain stoneware, different types of finishings and trims, the nuances of different tones and shade variations, as well as what an arrow on the mounting side indicates and whether it is actually necessary to lay marble effect and stone effect tiles according to a continuous pattern.
Then, professional tile layer Dmitry Drozdov (@instaburpro), together with experts from Mapei, talked about the ground rules for laying tiles, the peculiarities of working with large format porcelain stoneware, the importance of good waterproofing, and high-quality base preparation.
The practical part of the event showcased all the possible ways of cutting porcelain stoneware, using an Italon slab as the sample, highlighting its unparalleled solidity and reliability.
We express our gratitude to Mapei Russia, apartment renovation studio ABIS, Novosibirsk, and Tsentr Remonta.
